What coffee bean grinder setting makes the best coffee?

Author: admin  //  Category: Best coffee grinder

Coarse or medium?

The reason grinders don’t come with a "best" setting is that there’s no such thing, If we both have the same grinder set to the same level & brew with the same machine, you may like the result & I may not.

Beyond that; like the other person said, different methods require different grinds. I have seven different ways to brew coffee & I have 5 settings marked on my grinder plus I have a coffee mill for Turkish coffee since my other grinder won’t go fine enough for that.

You have to discover the exact setting that works for you.

It depends on where the coffee is going. If you are using a drip coffee maker, medium is what you want. If you use a French press (which I use) you want coarse.

If you are using a French Press the ‘coarse’ setting would be the best.
If you are using a drip grinder then a ‘medium’ would work.
However, it will depend on your grinder.
If you are using one of those ‘whirly’ blade ‘grinders’ then you are not really ‘GRINDING’ your coffee beans, you are just beating it with a fast moving blade. What you end up with is "more" or "less" chunks. If that is what you have just set the timer or what ever the control and wait for the dust to settle.
I use a BARATZA and find that the #10 position works best for my needs.

If you use a French press or a percolator, then grind the beans coarse. If it’s regular drip coffee, grind the beans medium. If you’re using an espresso maker or making Turkish coffee, then the coffee needs to be ground very finely. You can also grind your coffee fine in an automatic drip coffeemaker if you want very strong coffee. But if you want coffee that’s not strong, then use the medium grind.
