In September of 2008 I lost my job as a long distance truck driver due to a chronic back injury. And of course, no job, no income. But the bills kept coming, oh yes the bills never stopped. Anyway, after about 2 weeks of lying around the house, banging my head off the walls, and annoying my wife, I started searching the Internet for some kind of opportunity where I could make some money online. My wife works as a nurse and we had some money saved, but without my income we were going to be hurting financially and fast! Did I mention the bills? 

Well, one night I was online doing a little surfing and to tell you the truth, I wasn’t even looking for ways to make money. I was just surfing along on the net clicking this and clicking that, not really paying attention to anything in particular, and up popped an IPC website. At first, I thought it was just another one of those fishy websites that try to gyp people out of money. But I took a closer look because something on that website caught my eye. What caught my eye, was the picture of a man. Yea, the guy on the website… that guy on the website… I think know that guy! Or at least I thought I did, he looked really familiar. Just to let you know, the old IPC websites (they have since been updated) used to have a picture of a man in a tux on the front page, and he was holding out a wad of cash in his hand. It was as if he was saying, “Hey you, come here and take this money! Come on grab it!”. That guy looks a lot like someone I used to know. But it turned out, I really didn’t know the guy at all, I had just been up all day, it was 2 am and I had about 20 cups of coffee in me. I had a really wicked coffee buzz going that night.

I guess it was fate or destiny (or 20 cups of coffee), call it what you want. Whatever it was, it made me stop and take a closer look at that website, and curiousity got the better of me, so I decided to do a little investigating. I Googled IPC to see if I could get some “dirt” on it. I figured that when I put IPC into the “Google info grinder”, it would crumble like a cookie. Sure enough, when I saw the page Google brought back, my eyes were immidiately drawn to a headline that had the word “SCAM” in it, in big bold letters. On that entire page, the word “scam” was the first thing I noticed. And I thought to myself, “Ok IPC game over. You’re busted pal. You’re history!” But I clicked on the link anyway, prepared to read all kinds of stuff telling me how IPC was a scam, and IPC was a fraud, and how, if you put any money into it you would be the biggest butthead to ever fall off the turnip truck (or however that saying goes). But what I found instead, was an article written by an IPC member saying that IPC was in fact, not a scam. It was actually making money for him. I think the headline of that article went something like: “Can IPC Make Money Online Or Is It A SCAM?” I can’t remember all the details of that article, but the gist of it was, IPC was working for him and it would work for almost anybody if they would just take advantage of the techniques it puts forward.

I call that guy “the IPC guy” now. When the IPC guy wrote that headline he was employing a very clever marketing tactic to get his article noticed and get more traffic to his website. Let’s face it, that’s the goal of any online marketing plan, right? Hey it worked on me. He hooked me like a big old suckerfish. Let’s see if I can expand on that a bit. What the IPC guy knew when he wrote that headline is, that most people want their ideas to be backed up. Right or wrong, most people want their opinions to be reinforced. In other words, most people want to see their beliefs corroborated, whether their beliefs are true or not. It’s just human nature. So in placing the word “scam” in his headline, the IPC guy knew that he would draw more attention to his article because most people do believe that online money making opportunities do not work, and even if it’s just in the back of their minds, they want to see confirmation of that belief. As a result, they are more inclined to click the link with the word “scam” in it to get reassurance of a conclusion they have already drawn (that online money making opportunities are scams). Wow, my brain really hurts now. I think I need an aspirin. Did that make sense? I hope so.

Bottom line is, I clicked the link and got involved with The IPC Program and through that, IPC Instant Cash and I’m glad I did. As I told you before, I was unemployed and searching for something to bring in some extra cash for my wife and me. Now don’t get me wrong, IPC hasn’t made us rich. But it has given us some breathing room, it has paid some bills, and it has allowed us to go out on the town now and then. It is not a scam. I was a newbie to online marketing when I started, still am for the most part, and I’m doing ok. Uh oh, I hear my wife calling. We have a dinner date tonight, gotta go. There are many who believe when times are tough that cutting back is the best plan of action to ensure your well being. There is much to be said about that philosophy. And in many areas it is the wisest choice.

However, there are areas where I completely disagree with cutting back. For example, many school systems have had to address fiscal challenges. And unfortunately, the arts and physical education are the hardest hit areas. I cannot say what the long term effect of cutting art programs will be on the youth of America. I hope it does not curb the creativity of the next generation, but we will see.

However, I can tell you that cutting physical education has and will continue to harm not only our youth, but our economy as well. In the future, our health care system will crumble (not that it isn’t already awful) because of the needs of obese children becoming obese adults. We will spend billions on very avoidable health issues.

All because we didn’t get our children active.

So now that I have given a powerful example of why cutting back has failed in the past, let me address the concern of people who choose to “cut back” by spending less on personal training or eliminating a gym membership all together.

Why do people choose to join a gym or hire a personal trainer?

The medical benefits it gives you are:

- Reduced cholesterol

- Lower blood pressure

- Reduced risk of heart disease

- Lower triglycerides

- Stronger immune system

It can also improve your quality of life in the following ways:

- You have the energy you need to get things done.

- You physically feel better.

- You increase lean muscle mass.

- You lose body fat, which makes you look better.

- You gain more confidence.

- You sleep better.

- There is also a social and motivating quality of being a member at a gym.

You get the idea, right?

When people join a gym it is either because they cannot motivate themselves to do it on their own or they don’t have the knowledge to do it on their own.

Get the idea? Cutting back on fitness is an awful idea.

Imagine if you decide to fall off the fitness wagon. You gain weight, feel terrible and in a short time you can really fall apart. Heaven forbid something happens and you need to go to a doctor. Do you think that saving money by letting go of your trainer or your gym membership is going to be cheaper than doctor’s bills?

It is not all gloom and doom. Just don’t cinch on your health. So how do you recession-proof your body and your life? I don’t claim to be a financial expert. So I am not going to tell you how to financially make your investments work for you or how to redo your stock portfolio. Here are a few tips to get you started that will affect the choices you make in your everyday life.

Eat out less. Not only does this save you money, you will eat healthier as well. You can make the food you enjoy for much less than it will cost you in a restaurant. Brown bagging lunch keeps the fast food at bay and money in your pocket. A nice dinner at home not only will enable you to try a variety of foods, but it could be more romantic and spice up your love life. (Insert your own exercise joke here if you wish. I am leaving it alone)

Save gas and walk to the store. On days when you only need a few things, get some exercise by walking to the store. This will save you tons on gas money and you are helping yourself in the process.

Rent a movie or better yet, go do an art walk. Going to the movies is killer on the bottom line. You spend $25 for tickets and if you completely ignore me another $25 on popcorn, soda, and candy. Let’s assume you don’t ignore me. You can easily save $20 by renting. Want to save all of it. Every city has at least a couple of places that sell art. Usually they have what are called art walks. Often the galleries entice people to come down by having musicians and free wine tastings. Now that’s a fun night.

Coffee anyone? Seriously! Do you really need a $5 double, mocha, 3 shot espresso, non-fat frappuccino latte? Can you tell I don’t drink coffee? If you drink that every day it is $35 a week. If you have coffee twice a day, that is $70 a week and $280 a month. Heck, spend a little on a coffee grinder and make your own. It has to be a ton cheaper.

Like a nice glass of wine every now and then? If you go to a bar for happy hour or have a couple of drinks at dinner, I guarantee you are spending way too much on alcohol. How many of you have paid $7-$8 for a glass of wine or a beer? As a former bartender, I know that I normally have to only sell 2-3 drinks to pay for the whole bottle. Instead have people over and have everyone bring a bottle of pinot or chardonnay. You won’t drink as much (saves calories) and you will spend a ton less than at a bar.

I know there are tons of more ideas. But I am pretty sure that I have just saved you $300 -$400 a month and we haven’t talked about, lowering the air conditioner temperature, caulking windows, going green or any of the other major ways to reduce spending.

Everything I mentioned will directly increase your health and reduces spending at the same time.

So think twice before quitting on the gym and keep these things in mind:

- Working out in a social environment is motivating.

- Having equipment is not only more efficient, but adds variety.

- Using some of your paycheck on a personal trainer saves time, headaches, and energy.

Being in a recession really takes its toll on a person. Shouldn’t you do your best to control the things you can control at times like these?

Your health is one of the things you can control.

Cement is mixed to create concrete, which is used for many purposes. It is one of the most widely used materials in the world, and is often used to pave driveways, roads, sidewalks, reinforce buildings and for various other uses in construction. Depending on the volume of cement needed, there are certain techniques to adhere to in order to produce good concrete.

We take a look at some useful hints on cement mixing using a towing mixer

First add approximately 12 liters of water, depending on the type of cement mix. Cement should go in after some of the aggregate. Work consistently to the ratio of ingredients for whatever type of concrete mix you are working with. Beware of low grade aggregates, as this only leads to trouble later on with sinking, spoiling the appearance of the cement once you have poured it. Also, more importantly, do not get the concrete mix too wet as this can reduce the strength and it will be less able to withstand weathering in the future.

Never throw the materials into the mixer, instead, trickle it steadily over the rim. This is to prevent the materials from sticking firmly to the back of the drum and they will then only be dislodged by stopping the mixer. The appropriate mixing time for concrete is 2 and a half minutes, beginning timing from when all the materials, including the water, have entered the drum. It is important to remember not to over-mix as this will reduce the strength of the concrete and will cause segregation of the coarser aggregates.

Always ensure that you keep your mixer clean, because the slightest trace of material left in the drum will harden and attract more residue each time you use it. This will eventually render the machine useless. Never throw bricks into the mixer drum to clean it out. The best method is using 19mm of gravel and clean water.

Most concrete mixer brochures show the output in liters. (Example. 260 liters) and the amount of concrete needed for the work at hand is usually measured in cubic meters. One cubic meter of concrete is equal to 1000 liters. Therefore, if your machine is rated at 260 liters output, it can produce 0.26 cubic meters per mix.

Production

The mixing cycle is the time it takes to fill the machine, mix the concrete and discharge it. Most brochures for concrete mixers show a mixing cycle of 2 to 3 minutes. This is not an accurate figure for all practical purposes. When using the standard coffee grinder type mixer it is wise to use approximately 6 minutes as a mixing cycle. This will help you assess how long it will take for you to prepare all the concrete you will need, when taking the volume output into consideration. This is especially helpful knowledge to have when you will be hiring a concrete mixer.

There are different consistencies or strengths of cement for different uses. Low-strength concrete is normally used for house foundations. Some of the uses of medium-strength concrete are for house floors, footpaths and driveways. High-strength concrete is suitable for pre-cast concrete and heavy duty floors. Mortar is used for laying bricks and blocks. To lay 1000 bricks you will need 3 sacks of cement and 0.6 cubic meters of sand. Cement is also commonly used for plastering!

I think it is all to do with money. The Bookmakers were taking lots of money in bets, and if Susan, had won they would be wiped out.

It is just the favourite in the Grand National, too much money in bets on the favourite, an outsider at 60 to 1 wins, money corrups.
