I had so many things I wanted to say about the Jonas Brothers, but I couldnt say any of them on national television, so instead I said “Oh, Im so excited. They are like the nicest co-workers you could ever get the pleasure to-”I was going on with my fake excitement when my phone started ringing an obnoxious song I didnt know.

My eyes grew wide in embarrassment as I pulled the green sidekick out of my pocket. The caller id said Joe. Speak of the devil. “Excuse me…” I pleaded my eyes on Gary as I answered the phone. “What do you want Joe, I told you to leave me alone” Garys eyes widened when he heard me say Joe.
“Sorry Mill, I just couldnt believe it took a whole 8 minutes until you mentioned my name” he laughed. Little, self-centered pathetic rock star.
“I dont think I actually said your name, now excuse me, Im on TV” I said, and then ended the call before he could reply. My attention returned to Gary who asked me who it was. “Sorry, that was just Joe being Joe” I answered, knowing that it wouldnt be the end of it.
“Joe?” Gary wondered, wanting his last name.
“Joe Jonas” I replied, regretfully. But there was no way I could get around it. And from then on, I knew that the rest of the show was going to be about Joe and his brothers. I didnt understand why he had to do this to me. This was supposed to be my time, my spotlight. I told him to leave me alone, but no, he is way to self centered to care that I just wanted him to be gone. He wanted all the attention; he wanted the spotlight that was constantly following me around.
“Oh, thats wonderful!” Gary cried, his face getting all red, “Everybody in this room can tell how well you guys really do get along. Its just wonderful!”
“Well, yes, I consider the Jonas Brothers among one of my best friends” Lie. “I just cant wait to start filming next week” lie. “It is wonderful” yeah, right. The lies were just rolling off my tongue.
The smile on Garys face was bright white, stretching from ear to ear. I had that smug little smirk on my face. “Yes, what do you think it is about the Jonas Brothers that makes everyone adore them?” He asked me. Adore??
“Well, personally, I think its their strong connection with each other and their family. They are all so sincere through their music. I believe its that you actually get to know them, and thats what grabs the fans” ‘my fans’ I added, silently.
“Couldnt have said it better. Now, what is your new movie supposed to be about, Millie?” his eyes were big, and he was practically screaming in my ear he was so eager.
“Oh, its a love story. Its about this poor little girl that ends up meeting- ” I started, but got cut off by the ringing phone in my pocket. This couldnt be happening to me again. It just couldnt, hadnt Joe already done enough. He had already knocked my album out of number one, he had already stolen all my fans, and he had already ruined my morning. What did he and his brothers have left to do? I told you there were no such things as happy endings.
I opened the phone, murmuring “Hello” into it.
Joe responded with “Hey Millie, put the phone on speaker” So I did what he said. I dont know why I was taking commands from him. I probably would be yelling my head off if I wasnt frozen in front of Gary Brown and the entire nation. When the phone was on speaker, Joe said in a loud clear voice “Hey Gary, Joe Jonas here. I just wanted to answer your question”
The look on Gary face was a mixture of surprise and excitement. The look on my face was anger. “Joe, I think that he was talking to me” I said, hoping that he would leave me alone.
“No, no, let the boy continue” Gary said, his eyes staring at the phone which was now laying on the coffee table in front of us. So, Joe did continue, and Gary asked another question, and Joe answered. I wasnt needed here, nobody cared about me. I didnt say another word throughout the entire show. It was just Gary, Joe, and my Sidekick. At the end of the hour, Gary stood up and said “Thats all we have for today. I want to thank you for joining me and Joe Jonas on Breakfast with Gary.” That was all he said. He didnt even say my name, there was no need. I wasnt important, only my phone.
This was probably going to be one of the most famous episodes. It would be like when Tom Cruise was jumping on Oprahs couch. Everybody heard about it. This was going to be huge. I could see the headlines now: A regular show of Breakfast with Gary, turned out to be not so regular when Joe Jonas called him for an over-the-phone interview. It was going to be on every newsstand in America tomorrow morning.
